Inclusive Design for Older People
The Centre for HCI Design (HCID) at City University London has Inclusive Design as one of its key research themes. Older people have been the main research population we have been studying under this theme for a number of years now. Our work in this theme focuses primarily on the design and evaluation of web interfaces for this population. In this paper we describe our work in this area.
متن کاملInvolving psychometric tests for input device evaluation with older people
This paper presents a preliminary study of using psychometric tests when testing input devices with older people. An experiment with twelve older computer users evaluating three commonly used input devices (mouse, touch screen and tablet-with-stylus) in two common computer tasks (browsing and playing solitaire), preceded by a questionnaire and psychometric tests (Simple Reaction Time, Mini Ment...
متن کاملResourceful Reachability as HORN-LA
The program verification tool SLAyer uses abstractions during analysis and relies on a solver for reachability to refine spurious counterexamples. In this context, we extract a reachability benchmark suite and evaluate methods for encoding reachability properties with heaps using Horn clauses over linear arithmetic. The benchmarks are particularly challenging and we describe and evaluate pre-pr...
متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
DIY design process for interactive surfaces
This paper charts the design and build of two interactive tabletops that use infrared (IR) illumination techniques. One table implements fiducial tracking, whilst the other implements multitouch tracking. Trade-offs in both designs are discussed to highlight key considerations when building an interactive table. Using three key dimensions from lessons learned, we conduct a comparative analysis ...
